Yummy Hits Pure Miami
todayNovember 20, 2025
Waymo’s fully autonomous, all-electric Jaguar vehicles have officially hit the streets of Miami — but only a select group is getting a ride for now. According to Local 10, the company has begun testing its driverless cars in the city with no one in the front seat, marking a major step toward Miami’s future robotaxi service. For the moment, access is limited to Waymo employees, who are helping the company refine operations and gather data before opening the service to the public next year
Powered by a combination of GPS, cameras, sensors and AI, the vehicles are navigating Miami’s surface streets without using highways just yet. The controlled rollout allows Waymo to test real-world traffic conditions while keeping the environment manageable. When the service officially launches, riders will be able to hail a driverless car through an app, similar to Uber or Lyft. Waymo says this phase of limited testing is crucial as they prepare for a broader public debut.
The arrival of these cars raises a big question for Miami: Once the service opens to everyone, could driverless vehicles change the way the city moves?
