Shawn Mendes is officially returning to the stage and working on new music after nearly two years since canceling his world tour. He announced on Instagram that he will headline the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil on September 22, 2024. Mendes expressed his excitement to perform live again for his fans, stating, “It’s been a really long time since I last played live and I’m so excited to share that I’ll be headlining Rock In Rio on Sept 22nd. I’ve missed being on stage and seeing you all in person so much.”
In addition to his return to live performances, Shawn Mendes had more exciting news to share: he’s been hard at work on a new album. In his Instagram caption, he expressed his enthusiasm to debut the new songs for his fans, saying, “I’ve also been working on a new album and I can’t wait to play these new songs live for you.” Mendes previously canceled his Wonder World Tour in July 2022 to prioritize his mental health, stating that he needed time to “ground myself and come back stronger.” Since then, he has been taking it easy and spending time with family and friends to gain perspective on his career and life.
