Yummy Hits Pure Miami
North West made a surprise announcement during Kanye West’s VULTURES 2 listening event in Phoenix, AZ, revealing that she’s working on her debut album titled “Elementary School Dropout,” inspired by her father’s iconic album “The College Dropout.” “Hi, it’s Northie and I’ve been working on an album and it is called Elementary School Dropout,” The crowd erupted with cheers immediately after her announcement.
North West has been following in her father’s footsteps over the past few months. She made her stage debut back in 2020 during the Yeezy Season 8 fashion show in Paris, where she performed an original song. In October of last year, she expressed her aspirations of becoming a rapper like her dad in her debut cover story for I-D Magazine. A few months later, North gave fans a taste of her skills by previewing her verse on “Talking” at the VULTURES listening session in Miami.
North’s first official placement came on her father and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES VOL. 1 in January. She also appeared in the music video for “Talking/Once Again” alongside Ty Dolla $ign’s daughter, Jailynn Crystal. Since its release, North’s verse has received positive feedback. At the recent event in Phoenix, North joined her father and siblings Chicago and Psalm on stage, where the crowd enthusiastically rapped along to her verse.
