Cardi B is owning up to her recent controversial comments regarding the Los Angeles Police Department. Earlier this week, the rapper shared with her 168 million Instagram followers an anecdote alleging mistreatment by LAPD officers during an investigation. She claimed to have been forced to undress outside her home after officers received an anonymous tip about drug selling. However, after facing backlash, Cardi B clarified that her remarks were meant as a joke.

Cardi B initially asserted that her encounter with the LAPD occurred the previous month. On Monday, she shared a story alleging that she was the subject of an investigation prompted by a fraudulent tip. According to the Grammy-winning rapper, officers arrived at her Los Angeles residence and instructed her to disrobe outdoors as part of their inquiry. However, Cardi later acknowledged the timing of her revelation was not ideal and admitted to her error. Her admission came shortly before TMZ released a report citing police sources who found no evidence to corroborate her account. Additionally, Cardi’s team issued a formal statement regarding the incident to Billboard.

“This IG live was taken out of context and there is no truth to this story,” the statement said. “Apologies for any confusion.”
