Taylor Swift’s catalog, reportedly, is back on TikTok after being removed on February 1 due to a ban imposed by Universal Music Group. Swift’s music disappeared from the platform when UMG and TikTok failed to renew their licensing agreement, which expired on January 31. In an open letter to TikTok, UMG expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed payment rate for artists and songwriters, stating that it was significantly lower than what other major social platforms pay. UMG accused TikTok of attempting to build a music-centric business model without adequately compensating artists for their work.

While there hasn’t been an official announcement from either Swift’s team or TikTok, fans have quickly noticed that songs from The Taylor’s Version album re-releases are back on the app and available for use. This timing aligns well with the upcoming release of Swift’s 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” scheduled for April 19. However, artists under Universal labels and its publishing division, including Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber, still cannot use their music on TikTok.
