Rihanna has announced her plans to reboot her new album from the ground up, years after setting it aside. The Grammy award-winning singer shared updates on her highly anticipated LP at the launch of Fenty Hair in Los Angeles on Monday, June 10. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna revealed she is finally prepared to return to the studio to finish her ninth studio album. As a mother of two, she emphasized her intention to take a new creative approach. While she hinted at “starting over,” she assured fans that she won’t discard all the previously unreleased music she has already created.

“I’m rediscovering music,” she explained. “I’ve been working on this album for so long that I set it aside. But now, I’m ready to return to the studio. I’m really ready now. So I’m going to start.”
“I’m starting from scratch, but I don’t want to disregard the songs I’ve already created. I want to listen to them with fresh ears, with my new perspective, and see what resonates and what I still love,” she concluded.
Earlier this year, Rihanna also shared another reason for the delay of R9. In an interview with Interview magazine, she mentioned having plenty of visual concepts but lacking the music to complement them.
