Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel have announced their engagement! The model shared the news on Instagram Tuesday night (June 11), posting a photo of her black diamond ring on her Instagram story. “Marrying The 1975 is very brat @trumanblack,” she wrote. The couple was in New York City celebrating the release of their friend (and Healy’s bandmate George Daniel’s fiancée) Charli XCX’s new album, “Brat.”

Denise Welch, mother of The 1975 singer Matty Healy, joyfully confirmed the engagement on her show Loose Women on Wednesday (June 12). She expressed her excitement about her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, saying, “I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged. They went over to see their friends Charli and George in New York. I woke up this morning to the fact they’ve put it on Instagram. Instagram official, he has got engaged to Gabbriette. Black diamond, he had it made for her and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Describing Gabbriette, who hails from Los Angeles, Denise continued, “She is absolutely gorgeous…We couldn’t be happier, she is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.”

Apart from modeling, Bechtel previously fronted Charli XCX’s punk band Nasty Cherry, which disbanded during the pandemic.

Healy and Bechtel reportedly started dating in September 2023, shortly after the singer’s breakup with Taylor Swift. Their relationship, although brief, has captured attention, with fans speculating that several songs on Swift’s recent album “The Tortured Poets Department” are inspired by Healy.
