In a bizarre incident in Evansville, Indiana, local police arrested a woman who claimed that Kanye West “telegraphically” instructed her to steal a car, even though it had a child inside. The incident unfolded on North Main Street early Friday morning, leaving both law enforcement and the public stunned.
According to an affidavit from the Evansville Police Department, officers were dispatched to North Main Street following reports of a woman attempting to break into several vehicles parked outside local businesses. The woman, later identified as Ricki Smith, 28, from Louisville, Kentucky, allegedly attempted to force her way into a parked car as its owner was heading into a nearby store.
The vehicle’s owner, who had stopped briefly to run an errand while en route to drop off her child at daycare, was shocked to see Smith attempting to take her car. Acting quickly, the victim grabbed Smith by the hair and pulled her out of the vehicle before she could drive away. Fortunately, no one was injured during the altercation.
When questioned by police, Smith provided a strange explanation for her actions. She claimed she had been traveling from Louisville to Evansville when her car broke down on Interstate 64. After hitchhiking the rest of the way, Smith said she was compelled to steal the vehicle because Kanye West had told her to do so, “telegraphically.”
The unusual claim has left authorities and the public alike perplexed. It is unclear whether Smith was experiencing a mental health crisis or if other factors influenced her behavior. As the investigation continues, Smith is facing multiple charges, including attempted auto theft.
While Kanye West has not been linked to the incident in any way, the claim has added a surreal twist to an already alarming situation. The Evansville Police Department has not released further details about Smith’s mental state or any potential connections she might have to the celebrity.
The case remains under investigation, and Smith is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
