In an emotional and unexpected announcement, Adele has confirmed that she will be taking a significant break from music after concluding her Las Vegas residency in November. The iconic singer, known for her soulful voice and heart-wrenching ballads, broke the news during the final concert of her European tour at the Messe München arena in Germany.
The 36-year-old singer, who has been performing non-stop for nearly three years, addressed the crowd at the 80,000-capacity venue, expressing her gratitude and reflecting on her journey. “I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very f**king good at it,” Adele candidly shared. “And I have really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do.”

Adele’s current residency, Weekends with Adele, has been a massive hit at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, drawing fans from around the world. But as she nears the end of this chapter, she hinted that her fans might have to wait quite a while before seeing her on stage again. “After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” she told the audience, her voice filled with both gratitude and weariness.
The singer, who has always been open about the pressures of fame and performing, explained her decision further, revealing her need for rest and a desire to focus on her personal life. “I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. It has been amazing, I just need a rest! I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now. I will remember these shows for eternity, they have been spectacular.”
This announcement comes just weeks after Adele made headlines by confirming her engagement to sports agent Rich Paul during one of her Las Vegas shows. Responding to a fan’s “marry me” sign, she humorously revealed, “I can’t marry you – because I’m already getting married!” Adele, who was previously married to entrepreneur Simon Konecki and shares an 11-year-old son, Angelo, with him, seems ready to focus on this next chapter of her life.
As Adele steps back from the spotlight, fans will undoubtedly miss her powerful performances and poignant lyrics. But for now, it seems the queen of heartbreak ballads is choosing to live life on her own terms, away from the stage. Whether this break will last for a few years or longer, one thing is certain: Adele’s music and legacy will continue to resonate, even in her absence.
