Last night’s SNL was truly one for the books! The iconic Wicked star Ariana Grande teamed up with the legendary Stevie Nicks for a night of unforgettable TV magic. How big is Stevie Nicks? Well, her first time performing on the SNLstage was back in 1983, and there’s even a classic SNL sketch spoofing her that’s been around for over 25 years! Talk about serious staying power. Longevity and lore, folks. SNL50 went all out. Ariana, who has graced the SNL stage before—both as a host and musical guest—returned this time with a different vibe. She was there just to host, keep it low-key, and not sing. Well, at least that was the plan… until she immediately broke into song, because, duh, it’s Ariana Grande. 🎶 Of course, she couldn’t resist throwing in her spot-on impressions of Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Gwen Stefani (you might remember when she crushed these impressions back in 2016—modern SNL is just checking boxes at this point).

Taran Killam, an SNL alum who’s now starring in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Kennedy Center, shared his excitement beforehand, saying, “What I’m most excited for is Stevie Nicks. Her with Ariana hosting is appointment television for me.” And honestly, who wouldn’t have been excited to see those two legends share the stage?

Throughout the night, Ariana and Bowen Yang had a blast throwing in some Wicked references (because, duh, theater kid energy), while OG SNL cast member Gary Kroeger admitted he hadn’t seen Wicked himself but fondly remembered his former castmate Tim Kazurinsky, who starred in it years ago.

For the grand finale of her “low-key” performance, Ariana casually summoned a full chorus line of dancers, because why not? Though she claimed she was keeping it chill, let’s be real—Grande and chill don’t really mix. 😂

If you missed it, you missed an epic night. Pop met rock, and Ariana met Stevie—definitely one for the SNL history books. 💫
