Charlie Puth is putting a new spin on holiday vibes with his latest drop, “December 25th” — and fair warning, it’s not your typical sleigh-bells-and-snowflakes tune. Instead of decking the halls, this track dives deep into the feels, as Charlie reminisces on a Christmas past that went sour. In the song, he spills, “December 25th is the day I always miss you the most / ‘Cause the music and the lights, it reminds me of a night / That you told me you had to go.” Yeah, this one’s for those who aren’t exactly hyped about the holiday season.

Apparently, Charlie didn’t plan this single; it was a spontaneous moment in his studio that turned into a heartfelt song he couldn’t keep to himself. “I wrote and recorded ‘December 25’ completely on a whim a few weeks ago… and though it sounds absolutely nothing like anything on the album, I figured why not share it for the holidays.” And while “December 25th” gives us moody vibes, fans can expect something different on his upcoming fourth studio album, which he’s been grinding on this year.

And speaking of what’s next, Puth’s recent single “Hero,” dropped back in May, already gives a sneak peek into the album’s direction. With “Hero,”

he tackles a tough subject about watching someone you love fall apart and feeling helpless to stop it. He admitted, “It’s one of the hardest songs I’ve ever had to write, but I wrote it in hopes that you’ve gone through something similar.” So, if “Hero” is any indication, Charlie’s new album is going to hit us right in the feels, delivering raw, relatable moments.

In short? Holiday Puth is giving us heartbreak and healing instead of holly jolly — and honestly, we’re here for it.
