Yummy Hits Pure Miami
Okay, we know summer 2025 still feels far away, but the Atlantic hurricane season kicks off on June 1, and we alreadyhave the storm name lineup. The World Meteorological Organization locked in the list ages ago, but now we just sit back and wait to see which of these names will actually make history.
Will Tropical Storm Andrea be chill, or will Hurricane Karen cause a scene? (Very on brand, tbh.) And what about our boy Jerry? Will he just stay a tropical depression, or is he about to glow up into something major?
Quick Hurricane 101:
A storm gets a name once it hits 39 mph winds 🌬️
It officially becomes a hurricane at 74 mph 💨
On average, we see 14 named storms per season, 7 of which become hurricanes 😬
We won’t know how wild this season will get until experts start dropping forecasts in the coming months. But let’s be real, these names are already sparking vibes (and maybe a little fear).
Before storms had names, meteorologists had to describe them like “the storm 500 miles east-southeast of Miami,” which—let’s be honest—sounds exhausting. Now, we just name them and keep it moving.
Here’s the official 2025 Atlantic hurricane name list:
🌪️ Andrea
🌪️ Barry
🌪️ Chantal
🌪️ Dexter
🌪️ Erin
🌪️ Fernand
🌪️ Gabrielle
🌪️ Humberto
🌪️ Imelda
🌪️ Jerry
🌪️ Karen
🌪️ Lorenzo
🌪️ Melissa
🌪️ Nestor
🌪️ Olga
🌪️ Pablo
🌪️ Rebekah
🌪️ Sebastien
🌪️ Tanya
🌪️ Van
🌪️ Wendy
(No Q, U, X, Y, or Z names because apparently, those letters just don’t bring the storm energy.)
Stay tuned for those first storm forecasts. And let’s all collectively hope Karen doesn’t go full Karen this season. 🙃
