If you’ve ever sat on I-95 wondering if your life is just one long red brake light, congrats — you’re officially living in the third worst traffic city in the U.S., according to a new ConsumerAffairs study.
Miami jumped a wild nine spots from last year’s #12 ranking, beating out New York City and San Francisco for the bronze medal in commuter misery. The study crunched numbers from 50 major metro areas, factoring in commute times, hours stuck in congestion, and fatal crash stats.
Here’s the tea:
Average commute time? Just over 29 minutes (and that’s on a good day).
Average worker’s daily time in traffic? More than 6.5 hours a week.
Yearly total? A soul-crushing 70 days lost to gridlock.
Fatal car crash ranking? Miami sits at #11 worst — so yeah, not great.
The only two cities with worse traffic? Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. The rest of the top 10 includes San Francisco, Atlanta, NYC, Houston, Seattle, Baltimore, and San Jose.
Moral of the story: Miami’s economy might be booming, but so is the time you’ll spend staring at the bumper in front of you.
Honestly… might be time to start working from the beach. 🏖
