Good news for Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah: “The Summer I Turned Pretty” isn’t done breaking our hearts just yet. Amazon Prime Video just announced that the hit YA series is getting a feature film to wrap up Belly’s story — and fans are already losing it online.
The movie, written by Jenny Han (aka the mastermind behind the books and show) alongside Sarah Kucserka, will officially serve as the final chapter following Season 3’s emotional finale. The announcement dropped during the show’s big finale red carpet event in Paris, France — because of course Belly’s farewell gets a chic sendoff.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
And she’s not kidding — Season 3’s debut pulled in 25 million viewers globally in just seven days.
If you’re new here, The Summer I Turned Pretty is the ultimate coming-of-age drama: love triangle? check. messy summers? check. evolving family dynamics and unbreakable female friendships? double check. It’s a nostalgic, sun-drenched mix of first love, first heartbreak, and that one perfect summer you never forget.
Amazon execs called the series a “global sensation” and said they’re “beyond excited” to team up with Han again for the movie.
The cast? Still stacked. Lola Tung leads as Belly alongside Jackie Chung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, and more faves returning.
No word yet on the plot or release date — but one thing’s clear: Belly’s story is far from over, and the final chapter is going big-screen.
