Yummy Hits Pure Miami
Okay, THIS is the crossover we didn’t know we needed but are so glad happened. Backstreet Boys legend AJ McLeanjust posted a mashup of BSB’s iconic “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and Taylor Swift’s “Elizabeth Taylor” from her new album The Life of a Showgirl — and guess what? Taylor herself noticed.
McLean shared the remix on Instagram, lip-syncing to the mashup and fully leaning into his pop king energy. He captioned it, “Come on now you know one of us had to! @taylorswift!” And like the true queen of Easter eggs and internet moments she is, Taylor popped into the comments to scream (in all caps, obviously):
The Mashup That Broke The Generational Divide
The mastermind behind the mix? DJ LydGiggs (Lydia Getachew), who had her own meltdown in AJ’s comments:
“OMG you using my mix JUST MADE MY WEEKEND 🥹😭🔥 thank you for the love!”
Lydia later explained on Instagram that the mashup clicked when she realized both tracks shared a signature Max Martin production energy — yep, the same pop architect behind some of the biggest hits in both artists’ careers.
“My brain immediately heard the drop in ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ and I was like wait… the bass is giving ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).’ Lo and behold, Max Martin produced both songs!”
Between Taylor’s The Life of a Showgirl era and the ongoing 90s pop nostalgia wave, this moment is peak generational synergy. Swifties and BSB fans uniting under a Max Martin beat? Feels like the pop gods are smiling down on us.
Now the only question left is: when’s the remix dropping for real?
Because if AJ McLean and Taylor Swift ever share a stage — the internet will not recover
