Ariana Grande is stepping into a new chapter, officially retiring her signature platinum-blonde look in favor of a deep, gorgeous brunette hue. The dramatic hair transformation comes as the pop star prepares for her upcoming film press tour and first major concert series since 2019.

The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer debuted the wickedly cool change on Instagram on Wednesday (October 29), sharing a mirror selfie that showcased her long, dark, and loosely curled locks. This marks the first time Grande has sported a shade closer to her natural color since 2022, when she went blonde to take on the role of Glinda in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked.

Embracing the shift while still nodding to her iconic character, Grande playfully captioned the post: “It’s good to see me, isn’t it? 🫧”—a reference to one of Glinda’s most famous lines, as reported by People.

The return to brunette signals a symbolic end to Grande’s three-year immersion in the world of Oz. Her hair colorist, Francesco De Chiara, celebrated the switch by commenting, “We’re back amore,” and resharing the photo to his Instagram Stories, writing, “Here she is.”

Fans flooded the comments with enthusiasm, noting how “stunning” and “gorgeous” she looked, with one excitedly writing, “Ahhh brown hair is back!!”

The timing of the transformation is strategic, aligning with two major upcoming events:

  • Wicked: For Good: Grande is preparing for the press tour alongside costar Cynthia Erivo for the second and final installment of the Wicked film series, Wicked: For Good, which is set to hit theaters next month on November 21.

  • The Eternal Sunshine Tour: The singer is also gearing up to hit the road in 2026 for her Eternal Sunshine Tour, her first since the Sweetener World Tour in 2019. The tour, which supports her 2024 album of the same name, is scheduled to kick off in California in June 2026.
