Julia Fox ensured she was the focus of conversation this past Halloween weekend after she attended Julio Torres’ The Cursed Amulet party in a recreation of one of the most tragic and enduring images in American history: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis following the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy.

The actress stepped out in New York City wearing a meticulously recreated version of the iconic pink Chanel suit worn by the First Lady on November 22, 1963, complete with a pillbox hat and the infamous, visceral addition of blood splatter.

The costume immediately ignited controversy online, with many critics labeling the choice as disrespectful and exploiting a national tragedy for shock value

“Not as a Costume, but as a Statement”

Fox, however, was quick to defend her controversial choice, clarifying on her Instagram that the look was far more than a simple Halloween costume—it was a political and artistic statement.

“I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement,” Julia explained to her followers.

She detailed her reasoning, stating that she finds the historical image “powerful” and focused on the First Lady’s stoicism in the face of brutality. Fox framed the outfit as an act of profound resistance:

.

“Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once.”

Fox concluded by describing the moment as a woman “weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality.

“It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance,” she added, concluding her post with a tribute: “Long live Jackie O ❤️.”

While the conversation continues to divide social media—pitting historical respect against artistic commentary—Julia Fox successfully achieved her goal of using fashion to provoke thought about one of the most traumatic events of the 20th century.
