Imprisoned rapper Tory Lanez and his attorney have been hit with significant fines after a judge found them in contempt for failing to cooperate with a deposition in connection with one of Megan Thee Stallion’s ongoing legal cases.
According to a report published by TMZ on Monday, November 17, a judge ruled against Lanez after he repeatedly refused to sit for a proper deposition ahead of Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation trial against blogger Milagro Gramz. Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team claimed they made three attempts to depose Lanez. The final attempt, held on November 15 with Lanez and his lawyer, Crystal Morgan, was reportedly chaotic. Megan’s attorneys alleged that Lanez walked out of the meeting at one point and cursed at them. Furthermore, they accused his attorney, Morgan, of failing to instruct her client to answer questions appropriately
As a result of the obstruction and unprofessional conduct, both Lanez and Morgan were found in contempt of court.
Tory Lanez was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine for obstructing the multiple deposition attempts.
Crystal Morgan was fined $5,000 for her role in the obstruction and for failing to uphold professional standards.
The contempt ruling was handed down just before Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation trial against blogger Milagro Gramz commenced in Miami.
Milagro Gramz is accused of intentionally spreading false information about Megan during her 2022 trial against Tory Lanez for the shooting incident. Milagro reportedly appeared nervous while testifying in the courtroom. Megan Thee Stallion told TMZ that she is eager for the trial to conclude.
