During the fourth night of her Los Angeles stop on the Short ’n Sweet Tour on Thursday (November 19), Carpenter surprised the crowd by placing none other than SZA under “arrest” — her recurring bit where she detains a fan for “being too hot” and hands them a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs before launching into her hit “Juno.” But this time, instead of a fan, SZA appeared on the giant screen as sirens blared and graphics announced she was being taken into custody. The arena erupted as Carpenter gushed over the “Saturn” and “Kill Bill” singer, with fans screaming throughout the playful moment captured in multiple videos online.

“SZA, you know what they say, it’s cuffing season,” Carpenter teased, leaning into the joke before blushing and referencing SZA’s Grammy-winning album. “I’m getting really flustered. Oh s—, SOS for real.”

SZA reposted a clip of the moment to her Instagram Stories, calling herself a “shy guy” as she laughed and looked away bashfully while Carpenter showered her with love.

The pop star has been closing out her Short ’n Sweet Tour with a string of star-studded L.A. shows this week. Earlier in the run, Carpenter brought out Elle and Dakota Fanning to serve as her designated “Juno Girls,” joining the growing list of famous faces she’s “arrested” onstage — a list that already includes Gigi Hadid, Anne Hathaway, and Millie Bobby Brown.
