Once the holiday lights come down, the “Queen of Christmas” is trading her sleigh for the slopes. Organizers for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have officially confirmed that Mariah Carey will be a headline performer for the Games’ Opening Ceremony.

On February 6, 2026, Carey will take center stage at the historic San Siro Stadium in Milan. While she is most famously the voice of the winter season, this performance marks her first-ever appearance at an Olympic Opening Ceremony, following in the footsteps of legends like Celine Dion and Lady Gaga.

The ceremony, produced by Balich Wonder Studio, is centered around the theme of Armonia (Harmony). Organizers selected Carey because her “universal language” of music and multi-generational appeal perfectly embody the spirit of global unity.

  • The Venue: Milan’s San Siro Stadium will host over 60,000 spectators for the event.

  • The Star Power: Carey is the first major international icon announced for the lineup, which also includes Italian superstar Laura Pausini.

  • Global Reach: While the main performance happens in Milan, the “polycentric” ceremony will feature real-time connections to mountain clusters in Cortina, Livigno, and Predazzo.

From Christmas to the Cold

For Carey, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Having just wrapped up another record-breaking holiday season where “All I Want for Christmas Is You” dominated global charts, she is set to bring that same “Songbird Supreme” energy to the world of sports. In a statement following the announcement, Carey shared her excitement, saying, “Ci vediamo a Milano!” (See you in Milan). With billions expected to tune in, the 2026 Games are guaranteed to start on a high note—literally.
