If your FYP hasn’t already clued you in, the artist formerly known as Miley Cyrus is officially dead. Enter: MILEY. The pop icon completely scrubbed her famous last name off her socials, launched a brand-new website, signed a brand-new deal with Atlantic Records, and dropped the video for “Bass Persuades”, and we are officially in a state of terminal hyperfixation.
Here is the full lore on the rebrand, the single, and everything we know about her upcoming 10th studio album.
At the end of August, fans noticed the “Cyrus” was quietly wiped from her Instagram handle, website, and promotional assets. While the internet immediately started spreading rumors about family drama, industry reports confirm this is purely a high-level stage-name pivot.
Mark your calendars because we don’t have to wait long. Her 10th studio album, also titled Bass Persuades, drops on Friday, September 18. Miley revealed the album is a layered love story inspired by her long-term relationship with fiancé Maxx Morando, as well as the deep self-love she’s cultivated. She described the album’s mood as encompassing “heart full, heartache, every part of life in between.” The Tracklist: It’s a tight 10-track project. Key titles include “Different Religion” (feat. indie-post-punk band Model/Actriz), “Neon Signs” (feat. Andrew Wyatt), “Let’s Get Married,” and “Orbit.”
To celebrate the release, Miley announced a special two-night live event at the historic Hollywood Bowl in LA on October 16 and 18. It marks the very first time she’ll ever take that stage as a headliner, bringing out opening act Model/Actriz.
Bass Persuades” is just the title track appetizer for the main course. Her 10th studio album—also titled Bass Persuades—is officially dropping on September 18th.
