The universe just threw us the ultimate bone. After a total brain-rot level hiatus that had all of us convinced #MomTok was officially canceled, Hulu dropped the trailer for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5—and it is pure, unhinged, high-octane chaos.

If you thought the off-camera legal drama, production pauses, and affair rumors were going to kill the show, you clearly forgot who we’re dealing with. Here is every single drop of tea you need to know before the new season hits your screen THIS WEEK.

We usually get our next dose of MomTok before the dust even settles on the finale, but things went completely off the rails back in March. Filming was slapped on emergency pause following a domestic violence incident between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen.

To make matters even wilder, ABC pulled the plug on Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette right before it was set to air. Everyone thought SLOMW was heading straight into the vault forever, but in April, crew members quietly picked their cameras back up.

While production was on ice, the cast did not stop giving us content. Jessi Draper went completely rogue and publicly hard-launched her romance with Marciano Brunette.

If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the exact guy she admitted to having an affair with during previous seasons while she was still married to her now-ex, Jordan Ngatikaura. The shamelessness? Unmatched. The drama? Immeasurable.

According to Hulu, Season 5 is about to be “hotter than hell.” Here is the official play-by-play of what’s going down:

  1. Taylor’s Revenge Era: Taylor is back from The Bachelorette mess with a massive pile of unfinished business, an old temptation, and maximum public scrutiny.

  2. Broadway Whitney: Whitney is casually making her Broadway debut in NYC while trying to run away from the sheer amount of hate waiting for her back home.

  3. MomTok Civil War: Back in Utah, the core group is falling apart at the seams. Secrets, instant fame, and brutal internet backlash are testing everyone’s loyalty, and every single argument is making national headlines.

Because of the massive mid-year filming hutdown, we aren’t getting the standard 10-episode arc this time around. Hulu confirmed Season 5 will only be five episodes long. But honestly? Five episodes of concentrated, unfiltered SLOMW energy is probably all our mental health can handle right now anyway.
