SoFlo’s Most Haunted Historic Site Just Opened Its Gates After Dark

As the autumn breeze finally hits South Florida, Miami’s most historic grounds are preparing to welcome those brave enough to explore the dark. The Deering Estate, a breathtaking 444-acre environmental and archaeological preserve, has officially launched its highly anticipated Historic Ghost Tours for the month of October.

While the estate is known by day for its stunning views of Biscayne Bay and rich ecological trails, it takes on an entirely different persona once the sun goes down.

The two-hour walking tours guide visitors through the shadowed pathways of the property, diving deep into centuries of history. Guides share eerie, documented encounters and tales ranging from the area’s earliest Indigenous inhabitants and pioneers to the legacy of industrialist Charles Deering himself.

 

Paranormal enthusiasts will be particularly thrilled to step inside the estate’s historic buildings. Frequent sightings reported by past visitors and staff include the faint cries of a woman near the historic boat basin and the lingering spirit of a young girl inside the Richmond Cottage’s children’s room.
