Drake’s Father’s Ancestry Results Reveal African Ties, Prompting Rapper’s Curiosity About His Own Roots Drake is showing more interest in his family history after sharing the results of his father’s ancestry test on Instagram. The rapper’s father, Dennis Graham, was revealed to have genetic ties to Nigeria and other parts of Africa, according to the DNA data. In response, Drake posted a screenshot of the results and asked his followers if he can now consider himself a “Naija man” (a slang term for a Nigerian man). Drake has previously spoken about his African-American and Jewish heritage on his mother’s side and his mother’s Canadian roots.

Drake’s Unique Roots: Raised Jewish in a Predominantly Black Neighborhood

Dennis and Sandi Graham welcomed Aubrey Drake Graham into the world in Toronto in 1986. Growing up in Forest Hill, a neighborhood known for its affluence and Jewish community, Drake was raised by his mother after his parents’ divorce. Despite his African American Catholic father’s influence, Drake was raised Jewish and has spoken about how his multi-layered identity makes him stand out in the music industry.

“I consider myself a Black man because I’m more immersed in Black culture than any other,” Drake has said, according to Biography. “Being Jewish is kind of a cool twist. It makes me unique.”

Recently, the Grammy-winning rapper has been in the news for selling his Beverly Hills mansion, which he bought last year for $75 million. The 12,000-square-foot estate, which boasts a movie theater, a basketball court, and a 10-car garage, is listed for $88 million. While there is no official reason for the sale, Drake stands to make a $13 million profit if he finds a buyer for the luxurious property
