Billboard has confirmed that ZAYN, formerly a member of One Direction and a successful solo artist, has recently inked a fresh record deal with Mercury Records. In light of this exciting development, the talented singer took the initiative to wipe his social media accounts clean and unveiled a brand-new pre-save link and teaser. These preparations serve as a delightful anticipation for ZAYN’s upcoming debut single under the Mercury Records label, slated for release “very soon this summer,” as stated by the label itself. Sources close to ZAYN revealed to Billboard that his forthcoming music represents a significant departure from the distinctive sound that characterized his previous chart-toppers like “Pillowtalk” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” This artistic evolution promises an intriguing shift in ZAYN’s musical direction, building anticipation among his loyal fanbase. Zayn Malik Joins Forces with Mercury Records for New Music Label president Tyler Arnold expresses his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “From the moment I met Zayn, I knew we had to collaborate. His new music blew me away, but it was his vision, determination, and passion that truly impressed me. We are honored to have Zayn and his team on board with us at Mercury Records. Together, we have an incredible opportunity to embark on the next chapter of his musical journey.” Mercury Records, which relaunched in April 2022 under the guidance of Tyler Arnold and GM Ben Adelson as a U.S. imprint of Republic Records, boasts an impressive roster that includes acclaimed artists such as Post Malone, signed to Republic in 2015 under Arnold’s leadership, and James Bay, signed by Adelson in 2014. Additional talented signees at the relaunch include Stephen Sanchez, Chelsea Cutler, Jeremy Zucker, Lord Huron, Noah Kahan, BoyWithUke, Ka$hdami, Lyn Lapid, and Camylio. Mercury Records also serves as a pivotal hub for Republic’s partnerships with Big Loud Records, home to Morgan Wallen, and Imperial Music, the independent distributor that released Bo Burnham’s highly acclaimed album, Inside (The Songs). As a solo artist, Zayn has already made a significant impact with the release of three albums: Mind of Mine (2016), Icarus Falls (2018), and Nobody Is Listening (2021). These albums achieved impressive chart success, with Mind of Mine reaching No. 1, Icarus Falls peaking at No. 61, and Nobody Is Listening reaching No. 44 on the Billboard 200. Furthermore, Zayn has showcased his prowess on the Pop Airplay chart, with six songs landing in the top 50, including two top 10 hits. “Pillowtalk” secured the No. 1 spot, while “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” peaked at No. 2. These same songs also achieved the same chart positions on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100.
