After a series of tantalizing hints about her solo return, Megan Thee Stallion has officially declared her upcoming single, and the cover art is nothing short of breathtaking. On Friday, October 27th, the rapper took to social media to unveil the artwork for her upcoming single “Cobra,” scheduled for release in November. She captioned the post with “šš COBRA NOVEMBER 3RD š.”
The cover art portrays the rapper in the act of shedding her skin as she emerges from the depths of the jungle. The text on the announcement poster hints at more symbolism, referring to the release as “A Story by Megan Thee Stallion.”
Earlier in the week, Megan teased her fans with a video in which she philosophically states, “Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past, over and over again.” This brief teaser, labeled “Act One,” also captures the rapper flashing her fangs. The music video was directed by Douglas Bernardt, as reported by Rolling Stone.
“Cobra” marks Megan Thee Stallion’s first solo single since her second studio album, “Traumazine,” released in 2022. It also signifies her first independently released solo single since resolving her legal dispute with her former record label, 1501 Entertainment. During an Instagram Live session, the rapper revealed that she is financing everything herself. She stated, “This part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion… But I have no label right now. Weāre doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallionās pockets.” She continued, “The budget is coming from me. Motherf**ing Hot Girl Productions! The next sh*t yāall about to see is all straight from Megan Thee Stallionās brain, Megan Thee Stallionās wallet. We in my pockets, hotties, so letās do our big one.”
