Era’s Tour Show Canceled by Taylor Swift due to ‘Unpredictable Weather Conditions

Just one show into The Eras Tour’s South American leg, Taylor Swift has faced an unexpected concert rescheduling. The superstar kicked off her series of three consecutive shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Estadio River Plate Stadium yesterday. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the show scheduled for tonight has been moved to Sunday. Taylor Swift is known for embracing rain shows, having even performed an entire concert in the pouring rain in Nashville this past May after a four-hour delay, concluding the show after 1:30 a.m. Yet, this time, Swift took to Twitter to inform her fans that the weather won the round.

“I love performing in the rain, but I will never compromise the safety of my fans, fellow performers, and crew,” Swift expressed. “We’ve rescheduled tonight’s Buenos Aires show for Sunday due to the weather being so incredibly unpredictable that it would be unsafe to proceed with the concert. The silver lining is that I get to spend more time in Argentina!!”

According to Deadline, weather forecasts anticipate at least two inches of rain and 40 mph winds in Argentina’s capital city. A video circulating on Twitter, captured from the stadium, reveals the stage and surrounding area experiencing significant flooding. While this is undoubtedly disappointing for Argentinian fans and those who traveled to attend, safety remains the top priority. Taylor Swift seldom cancels or reschedules a show, underscoring the seriousness of the weather conditions.

Following her time in Argentina, Swift will travel to Brazil to perform in Rio De Janeiro before Thanksgiving, followed by a performance in São Paulo after the holiday. This marks the conclusion of The Eras Tour for 2023. The singer plans to resume the tour in February, with additional international dates throughout the summer. She will return to North America next fall for shows in the U.S. and Canada. Sabrina Carpenter currently serves as the opening act, with Paramore and Gracie Abrams set to take over at different points later in 2024.
