Fans of Taylor Swift, known as Swifties, will be disheartened by the news that the Netflix Original concert, the Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour, is confirmed to exit the streaming platform by the close of December 2023. Paul Dugdale directed the Taylor Swift concert recording, a production by Den of Thieves and Taylor Swift Productions. Initially premiering globally on Netflix on December 31st, 2018, it showcases her live performance in Dallas, Texas.
Netflix now has a banner displaying a “Last Day To Watch” message on the app and on its movie page. Netflix confirmed its removal through the “New on Netflix” newsletter, disseminated to various publishers and online outlets. The notification of its removal is set to appear approximately a month prior to its departure, affecting all Netflix regions.
You might wonder why a Netflix Original would leave the platform, and it’s a valid question. However, as extensively covered in recent years, Netflix has been consistently removing numerous titles it owns.
The removal of certain Originals often boils down to the ultimate ownership of a show or movie, which Netflix exclusively licenses for a fixed duration.
In this instance, the concert was licensed to Netflix for a specific five-year period, and that timeframe is now drawing to a close.
Certainly, various speculations abound regarding the reasons behind the Reputation tour’s departure from Netflix.
