Dua Lipa is as hooked on “Houdini” as her fans! On Friday, December 1st, the singer unveiled an extended edit of her latest single, stretching it from 3 minutes to nearly 6 minutes. “Houdini Extended Edit is OUT NOW and it’s 5 minutes and 54 seconds of pure filth!!!!!! 🎧💿🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 Check itttttttt,” Lipa excitedly announced in her post. Additionally, she treated fans to fresh behind-the-scenes photos captured during the filming of the “Houdini” music video and shared new snapshots and videos from the recording studio.
The extended edit includes a new lyrical segment in the song. Between the second verse and chorus, Dua croons, “Weave the ceilin’ from tomorrow/ Free the people from daylight/ All the plans go out the window/ When we’re out this late at night.” Fans have been eagerly anticipating Dua’s upcoming musical chapter since she confirmed in an interview that her third studio album is slated for release sometime in 2024. Lipa hinted at a different musical direction for this album while emphasizing her commitment to maintaining a pop essence, stating, “lest her ‘fans have a meltdown.'” She also expressed a desire to avoid “alienating” her audience but teased a departure from disco, leaning toward the sounds of “1970s-era psychedelia.”
Although Dua hasn’t disclosed more specifics about the album, it will follow her previous works: 2020’s “Future Nostalgia” and her 2017 self-titled album, “Dua Lipa.”
