Olivia Rodrigo has acknowledged Billie Eilish’s revelation that her song “Goldwing” from the album Happier Than Ever was inspired by her. In response to this disclosure during an interview with the LA Times, Rodrigo expressed her appreciation, describing it as “so sweet.”

Furthermore, Rodrigo added, “Billie is such a kind, wonderful girl, and I feel very fortunate that it’s not about competition — that we’re simply supporting each other.”

In a recent conversation with the LA Times, Eilish expressed a sense of connection with Rodrigo. “I believe everyone’s experiences are highly personal. No one has lived someone else’s life, you know? But I do feel a sense of protectiveness towards Olivia,” she remarked.

Eilish disclosed that her song “Goldwing” from the 2021 album Happier Than Ever drew inspiration partly from Rodrigo. “It’s not solely about her. She was just on my mind while I was writing it,” Eilish mentioned. “She was rising, and she was younger than me, which was a new experience for me.” The track encompasses lyrics about the music industry, with lines like, “They’re gonna tell you what you want to hear/ Then they’re gonna disappear/ Gonna claim you like a souvenir/ Just to sell you in a year.”

“Olivia was gaining prominence, and she was this young, delicate individual,” Eilish continued. “I felt quite anxious and protective of her. Coming up in the acting world, people can be strange. I don’t know — I just felt a strong need to watch out for her.” She added, “I can relate to all these young girls. And it’s the girls, you know? Boys can handle themselves. They’re guys — they don’t face the same issues we do. I simply wish to shield everyone in a little bubble and shield them from everything.”
