Justin Timberlake appeared to address comments made in Britney Spears’ memoir regarding their past relationship and turbulent breakup.
During the star-studded opening of the new Fountainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday (December 13), the *NSYNC icon took to the stage for a performance that sparked conversation. Entertainment Tonight reported that it was his rendition of the 2002 hit “Cry Me a River” that grabbed attention—a breakup ballad widely linked to his split from the “Toxic” singer, whom he dated from 1999 to 2002. Notably, the song’s music video depicted a woman resembling Spears engaging in infidelity within a relationship.
Nevertheless, Timberlake seems to be conscious of the potential implications of performing the song, particularly after Spears unveiled her revealing memoir. In her memoir, Spears made numerous startling allegations about Timberlake, reportedly leaving him apprehensive before the book’s publication. These claims included how he ended their relationship with a two-word text message. Post the memoir’s release, Timberlake received solidarity from his *NSYNC bandmates.
