Ryan Gosling has unveiled an EP featuring three fresh renditions of the popular single, “I’m Just Ken,” which was prominently featured in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film that made its way to theaters this past summer, captivating Barbie enthusiasts worldwide.
This EP underscores that Gosling’s trajectory isn’t confined to embodying the stereotype of blonde fragility. Instead, he’s chosen to present three innovative takes on the classic Barbie (or should we say Ken) anthem to his audience. The EP comprises the original “I’m Just Ken,” along with a mellower, acoustic version titled “In My Feelings,” a festive “Merry Kristmas Barbie” edition, and an 80s-inspired “Purple Disco Machine Remix.”
In a generous move, Gosling, alongside DJ and producer Mark Ronson, has not only presented three fresh renditions of the single but also unveiled a behind-the-scenes music video for “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie).” In each iteration of the track, Gosling, portraying Ken, serenades about his role as second fiddle in Barbie’s life, gradually recognizing his own worth and the need for acknowledgment beyond being an overlooked supporting character.
The film Barbie, brimming with immense Kenergy, has recently earned a whopping 10 Golden Globe nominations, marking it as the second most nominated movie in the award show’s 81-year history! For eager Barbie enthusiasts, the Golden Globes ceremony is scheduled to air on Sunday, January 7th, 2024.
