On stage, Koy quipped about the disparity in camera shots between the Golden Globes and the NFL, playfully noting there’s more variety to cover at the awards show.

Highlighting the contrast between the Golden Globes and the NFL, the comedian humorously remarked, “At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.” Cameras promptly captured Swift’s reaction—pursed lips and a cold stare—followed by her casual sip from a champagne flute. Sensing the room’s discomfort and the subdued response from the usually lively singer, Jo Koy acknowledged the awkwardness and offered a mild apology for the jest before swiftly transitioning to the next topic.

Speaking with ET on the red carpet at Billboard’s Golden Globes after-party, Jo Koy downplayed the mixed response to his comment. Describing it as “cute,” Koy clarified that he was simply highlighting the reduced number of cutaways featuring Taylor Swift during Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s games. When ET reporter Denny Directo suggested that Swift’s seemingly salty sip might have been due to a craving for champagne, Koy responded with a good-natured “aww, man” and shook the interviewer’s hand.
