Kelly Clarkson’s legal battle with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock is intensifying with a new lawsuit filed in Los Angeles court. This latest legal move seeks to expand beyond the $2.6 million ruling Clarkson secured against Blackstock last fall. While Blackstock is currently appealing that decision, Clarkson’s new lawsuit alleges violations of state labor rules dating all the way back to the beginning of their relationship. Specifically, she aims to recover all commissions, fees, profits, and other monies paid to Blackstock’s father’s management firm, Starstruck Entertainment, since 2007. This extends the scope of the legal dispute beyond the previous judgment, which only covered the period from 2017.

Following Kelly Clarkson’s divorce filing, her ex-husband’s management firm, Starstruck, sued her for millions, alleging unpaid fees and claiming significant contributions to her success. In response, Clarkson filed a complaint with California’s Labor Commissioner, asserting that Starstruck and her ex-husband violated the Talent Agencies Act (TAA) by acting as unlicensed talent agents. In November, the Commissioner ruled in Clarkson’s favor, ordering her ex-husband to repay over $2.6 million in commissions for deals he facilitated, including her role on The Voice.

In December, Blackstock and Starstruck contested the ruling, seeking a review by a Los Angeles judge instead of the Labor Commissioner. This ongoing legal battle is scheduled for a hearing in August.
