Swift took to Instagram in a surprise announcement, introducing The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, which presents 15 new compositions alongside the original 16 tracks. She explained that she had penned “an abundance of tortured poetry” over the past two years and felt compelled to share it all.
The Tortured Poets Department features numerous tracks subtly referencing her past relationships, alongside some speculated to delve into her present romantic endeavors. Following the album’s release, Swift took to Instagram to offer fans insight into her creative journey, describing it as “a collection of fresh compositions reflecting occurrences, viewpoints, and emotions from a transitory and fatalistic phase – one characterized by both euphoria and melancholy in equal measure.”
Swift further emphasized that “this period of the author’s life is now over” and that “the chapter is closed and boarded up” with “no scores to settle.”
