Katy Perry’s “Lifetimes” Video Sparks Environmental Controversy in Spain

Katy Perry’s team has addressed allegations by the Spanish government regarding her music video for “Lifetimes.” The video was reportedly shot on protected sand dunes in S’Espalmador, Formentera, without proper permission.

In response to the police investigation, Capitol Records, Perry’s label, stated they had obtained “all necessary permits” before filming. They explained that while one permit was still pending during production, they had received verbal authorization to proceed. The label emphasized their adherence to local regulations and respect for the location.

However, the environmental department of the Balearic Islands later claimed that the production company lacked proper authorization for filming on the dunes. While not considered a “crime against the environment,” the incident was labeled an “infringement.”
