It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Brian Burns, our talented and cherished programmer. Brian passed away on Saturday, December 14, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brian was a veteran programmer and consultant with a storied career in radio. He was best known for championing the Rock 40 format at KXXR in Kansas City and for leading the Modern AC format surge at WDCG in Raleigh. Most recently, Brian brought his unparalleled expertise and passion to Miami’s Yummy Hits as our Program Director. His innovative ideas, unwavering dedication, and love for local radio have left an indelible mark on our station.
Beyond his professional achievements, Brian was a kind, inspiring, and generous spirit who touched the lives of everyone he worked with. His creativity and fearless programming will always be remembered, and his legacy will live on through the work he poured his heart into.
