Selena Gomez Finally Spills How She & Taylor Swift Became BFFs
Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been friendship goals for 16 years, but now we finally know the real story of how it all started — and it’s giving peak late-2000s Disney Channel energy.
On the Aug. 7 episode of Therapuss with Jake Shane, Selena took it all the way back to 2009, revealing:
“Taylor and I dated the Jonas Brothers. I dated Nick, and she dated Joe. And everything was… it was cute. We were young. We all know and love each other now, and it’s so cute. We didn’t know what we were doing. She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.”
Selena was just 15 and Taylor was 18 when both of their Jonas romances ended, and — like any two teenage girls going through breakups — they bonded over it.
“And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now 16 years later,” Selena added.
Fast-forward to today: they’re 33 and 35, still showing up for each other at award shows, concerts, and pretty much every major life moment. The Jonas Brothers may have been the plot twist, but the real love story? Selena + Taylor forever.
