Lil Nas X has been building anticipation for his upcoming single over the past week. The rapper’s tweet at the beginning of the year, stating, “lol im really bout to have the greatest comeback of all time,” turns out to be more than just playful teasing; it’s a reference to the concept of his new song.

On January 8th, Lil Nas X unveiled the cover art for his latest single, “J CHRIST,” and it’s bound to stir some controversy. The artwork depicts the rapper affixed to a cross, with a group of individuals starting to raise him. Sharing the image on Instagram, he added the caption, “MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!”

“J CHRIST” is set to release on Friday, January 12th, marking Lil Nas X’s first single since “STAR WALKIN'” dropped in September 2022. Prior to that, the rapper’s previous releases were featured on his debut studio album, MONTERO, which debuted in 2021 and included chart-toppers like “Industry Baby” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”

In addition to the highly anticipated single, Lil Nas X enthusiasts can also anticipate a documentary capturing his 2022 tour, titled “Long Live Montero.” The rapper shared the exciting news on Thursday, January 4th, via Twitter, announcing the HBO MAX original film with a poster. “Good News World! Long Live Montero. Tour Doc HBO MAX,” Lil Nas X wrote, and later added, “BIG 2024!” while revealing that the documentary is scheduled for streaming on MAX starting Saturday, January 27th.
