Talk about riding for a cause! 🚨 This week, 19 Miami Police officers hit the road for a 260-mile charity bike ride all the way to Orlando — and it’s all for an incredible cause: supporting Blood Cancer United (formerly known as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
The group took off bright and early around 6:30 a.m. from Bayfront Park, after months of intense training and prep rides across the city. They’re not alone either — three first responders from Miami Fire Rescue are tagging along in a fire truck to provide medical support just in case anyone needs help along the journey.
This year’s ride hits especially close to home. It’s dedicated to Patricia “Patty” McCrink, the wife of Detective Joseph McCrink, a 28-year veteran of the Miami Police Department. Patty recently finished treatment for stage 4 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and her strength has inspired the entire department.
Detective McCrink has spent the past eight years raising funds and awareness for cancer research, and this year’s ride feels extra meaningful. Together, the team has already raised over $30,000, with every single dollar going directly to Blood Cancer United — an organization that helps provide treatment, access, and care for those battling blood cancers.
💬 “It’s not just about the miles,” one officer said before taking off. “It’s about the mission — to honor survivors, support families, and push for a cure.”
From Bayfront Park to Orlando, this ride is more than a journey — it’s a message of hope, resilience, and community. Go, Miami PD! 🙌💪
