Yummy Hits Pure Miami
Miami is gearing up for one of its biggest athletic traditions, but for local drivers, the 2026 Life Time Miami Marathon & Half means one thing: widespread traffic. With over 18,000 runners expected this Sunday morning, Miami-Dade Police have announced a massive grid of road closures that will effectively split parts of the city.
The race kicks off at 6:00 AM on Sunday, January 25, starting at the Kaseya Center and winding through Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, and Brickell before finishing at Bayfront Park.
While the main event is Sunday, some closures are already in effect to accommodate the finish line and staging areas.
Friday & Saturday: Biscayne Blvd (Northbound) is closed between SE 2nd St and NE 2nd St.
Saturday, 9:00 PM: Full closure of Biscayne Blvd from SE 1st St to NE 1st St begins.
Sunday, 5:00 AM: Citywide closures begin along the entire 26.2-mile route.
Sunday afternoon: Most roads will reopen by 2:00 PM, though the area around the finish line on Biscayne Blvd may remain closed until 5:00 PM.
Traffic Hack: If you need to travel between the mainland and Miami Beach on Sunday morning, officials recommend using the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195), which will remain open and unaffected.
The Port of Miami will remain accessible throughout the race. However, travelers should avoid the standard downtown routes. Drivers are instructed to use the Port Tunnel via I-395 or enter through NE 5th Street.
