The countdown to FIFA World Cup 2026 is officially underway, and while the excitement is building for one of the world’s biggest sporting events, Miami Gardens residents and commuters should prepare for significant traffic changes around Hard Rock Stadium.

With thousands of fans expected to travel to the stadium for each match, local officials have announced a series of road closures, access restrictions, and traffic modifications designed to improve safety and manage congestion before and after games.

The impacted match dates include:

June 15, 21, 24, and 27, 2026
July 3, 11, and 18, 2026

On these dates, several key roadways surrounding Hard Rock Stadium will be affected, including portions of Florida’s Turnpike and major intersections throughout Miami Gardens.

Drivers should expect closures at:

• Florida’s Turnpike Northbound and Southbound Exit 2X ramps

• Northwest 199th Street at Northwest 14th Court

• Northwest 199th Street at Northwest 27th Avenue

• Golden Glades Interchange, which will temporarily operate under bus-only traffic patterns following matches to assist with crowd dispersal

According to officials, pre-event road closures will begin as early as 5:00 AM on match days and remain in place until stadium parking lots open approximately four hours before kickoff. Additional traffic restrictions will be implemented after matches conclude to help safely move thousands of attendees out of the area.

Residents living within the designated Clean Zone, bounded by NW 32nd Avenue, NW 12th Avenue, County Line Road, and NW 183rd Street, should be aware that neighborhood access will be restricted during certain periods. To enter and exit the area efficiently, residents are encouraged to obtain a Local Access Pass, which will help facilitate movement through controlled access points.

While the temporary traffic changes may create some inconvenience, they are part of a larger effort to ensure the safety of visitors, residents, and event personnel during one of the largest international sporting events ever hosted in South Florida.

If you regularly commute through Miami Gardens, now is the time to begin planning alternate routes and allowing extra travel time on match days. Whether you’re attending the games or simply navigating your daily routine, staying informed ahead of the World Cup will help make the experience smoother for everyone.

With the world set to arrive in Miami Gardens this summer, residents can expect an unforgettable atmosphere, increased activity throughout the city, and a front row seat to one of the most celebrated sporting events on the planet.
