Yummy Hits Pure Miami
todayApril 11, 2025
Grief doesnโt need a passport โ and last night, Miami showed up for the DR.
On Wednesday night, the Allapattah neighborhood came together in full force, holding a candlelight vigil at Juan Pablo Duarte Park to honor the victims of the devastating nightclub collapse in Santo Domingo, where 200+ lives were lost in a tragedy thatโs left the Dominican community heartbroken.
During a performance by merengue legend Rubby Pรฉrez at Jet Set nightclub, the roof collapsed โ turning what shouldโve been a night of music into unimaginable loss.
Among the victims: โ ๐ค Rubby Pรฉrez, a voice that shaped generations
โ โพ๏ธ Octavio Dotel & Tony Blanco, both former MLB pros
โ ๐ Nelsy Cruz, a local governor and the sister of All-Star Nelson Cruz
Juan Pablo Duarte Park, a major cultural hub for Dominicans in South Florida, became a space for healing. People lit candles, shared prayers, and embraced through tears โ standing side-by-side in collective grief.
โThis pain touches every Dominican heart,โ one attendee shared. โEven from afar, we grieve together.โ
This isnโt just about headlines โ itโs about community. About showing up for one another. About never forgetting the people behind the numbers.
To everyone affected: Miami sees you. Feels you. And mourns with you. ๐๐ฉ๐ด
