This Easter Sunday turned terrifying on the sand. 💔 South Florida beaches saw three swimmers pulled from the ocean, including one found unresponsive near 88th & Collins in Surfside, and two others rescued at 16th & Collins in South Beach. All were caught in seriously dangerous waters, and first responders had to battle intense currents to get them out.
Witnesses described the ocean as “very aggressive,” and sadly, this comes just days after a 12-year-old drowned off Fort Lauderdale Beach. These aren’t just freak accidents — the ocean has been on one lately.
💬 Real talk: Would you know what to do if you got caught in a rip current?
⚠️ Here’s your reminder:
Don’t swim alone.
Stick to beaches with lifeguards.
If you feel yourself getting pulled, don’t panic. Don’t fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until you’re out of the current.
Spring break might be winding down, but the danger is very much still real. Before you grab your sunscreen and speaker, check those beach conditions and stay safe out there.
We want you dancing at the beach, not calling 911. 🆘 Stay sharp, South Florida
