Jessie Cave, the actress who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter movies, recently shared she was barred from a fan convention — and the reason hits close to home for a lot of Miami creators: her OnlyFans account.
In a September Substack post, Cave explained she “didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans.” The organizers reportedly told her it was a “family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.”
“This was baffling to me, as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair!” Cave wrote, pointing out the double standard.
The story resonates in Miami, one of the U.S. cities with the highest concentration of OnlyFans creators. A study by Madhouse Labs found the city has 1,110 OnlyFans accounts per 100,000 residents, while Fansearch claims that 35% of young women aged 18–30 in Miami are creators — though that likely measures visibility more than active paid content.
Globally, OnlyFans boasts over 4.11 million creators, with 1.1 million active in the U.S. So Miami’s thriving creator scene isn’t just hype — it’s shaping how people think about content, fame, and even fan conventions.
Cave’s experience highlights the tricky balance between mainstream fandom and creator culture, something Miami locals see all the time. Fans are already debating online: is it fair to exclude creators like Cave from events while others have done nudity or adult content on screen?
For Miamians, this is a reminder that the OnlyFans economy isn’t just a side hustle — it’s a cultural movement that even hits the Wizarding World.
