Meghan Trainor is making one thing very clear: she has no time for “mean girl” energy. The “Still Don’t Care” singer, 32, took to TikTok on Monday, January 12, to officially distance herself from the viral “toxic mom group” drama that has been taking over the internet since New Year’s Day. The drama kicked off on January 1, 2026, when High School Musical alum Ashley Tisdale published a raw, personal essay for The Cut titled “You’re Allowed to Leave Your Mom Group.” In the piece, Tisdale described “breaking up” with her circle of mom friends after the dynamic turned “toxic. She detailed feelings of being “frozen out,” excluded from group chats, and discovering hangouts via Instagram—all of which she compared to the “high school” rejection she thought she’d left behind.
While Tisdale never named names, internet sleuths immediately pointed to her well-documented celebrity mom circle, which has famously included Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor.
Trainor, however, is using humor to clear her name. In her latest TikTok, she lip-syncs to a viral Stranger Things audio of a character begging people to believe them.
The Caption: “Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama.”
The Comment: “I swear I’m innocent 🙏,” she wrote.
This isn’t her first time poking fun at the situation. Just last week, she shared a video of herself “finding out” about the drama while her new single “Still Don’t Care” (from her upcoming album Toy With Me) played in the background.
The rest of the rumored group has had mixed reactions to the fallout:
Daryl Sabara: Meghan’s husband recently told TMZ there is “no drama over here” and that he simply hopes Tisdale is “doing okay.”
Matthew Koma: Hilary Duff’s husband took a more aggressive route, posting a satirical Cut magazine cover on Instagram that mocked “self-obsessed” behavior, which many saw as a direct shot at Tisdale.
Mandy Moore: While she hasn’t spoken out, she subtly took a side by praising Koma as “one of the most generous humans” just a day after his post.
Despite the rumors, Tisdale’s publicist has maintained that the essay was about a different, non-celebrity group of former friends. Whether that’s true or just Hollywood damage control, Meghan Trainor is officially “unsubscribing” from the narrative.
