Mexican-American pop powerhouse Becky G is inviting fans to see the woman behind the global superstar in her new documentary, Rebbeca. The film, which takes its title from the singer’s real first name, will have a limited theatrical release this winter. Rebbeca is an intimate documentary directed by Jennifer Tiexiera and Gabriela Cavanagh. It focuses heavily on the raw and transformative process the singer underwent while creating her first música mexicana album, 2023’s Esquinas.
The album Esquinas (Spanish for “Corners”) is a deeply personal project for Becky G, reflecting her identity as a “200 percenter”—proudly 100% Mexican and 100% American. It is a tribute to the Regional Mexican music that shaped her upbringing and connects her to her family roots. The documentary chronicles this pivotal artistic shift, alongside her first-ever headlining tour.
In a statement, Becky G shared the raw nature of the film, saying: “This film isn’t about perfection. It’s about becoming.Rebbeca was filmed in a moment of personal transition, when the questions were still louder than the answers. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s healing.”
The film, which premiered to acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, also reportedly captures emotional truths about love, family, and resilience, providing unseen footage from her early performances.
Fans will have a brief window to experience Rebbeca on the big screen. The documentary is partnering with Live Nation Studios and Trafalgar Releasing for a nationwide theatrical release on just two nights:
Wednesday, December 10
Saturday, December 13
The theatrical release will also feature a personal message from Becky G to her fans and exclusive, never-before-seen performance footage. Tickets for the limited event go on sale November 6.
If you’re looking for a video about the música mexicana album at the heart of the documentary, you can watch Becky G on “Esquinas” and identifying as a “200%”. This video features an interview where Becky G discusses the inspiration behind her new regional Mexican-inspired album Esquinas.
