Florida Drivers Are Officially the WORST in the U.S.—You Good, Sunshine State?

Okayyy Florida, be so serious right now 😭. We’re officially number one… but like, in the worst way possible. According to a spicy lil report dropped by Consumer Affairs in October 2024, Florida drivers were crowned the absolute worst in the nation. Not to be dramatic, but it’s giving Fast & the Delirious.

Like, is the Florida Man meme now behind the wheel?! Because this mess is real. The report used crash data from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), and looked at fatal crashes per 100,000 residents—including those involving DUIs. Not a cute look.

The Worst States to Hit the Road In:

Florida (duh 🙃)
New Jersey (y’all stay angry)
Massachusetts (Massholes… need we say more?)
New York (iconic pedestrians, chaotic drivers)

And because Florida couldn’t stop at just taking the crown, three of our cities ALSO made it to the top 15 worst in the entire country: Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Davie. Yep, South Florida said ✨swerve✨.

o what does this mean? Maybe it’s the heat. Maybe it’s the iguanas. Maybe it’s just main character energy gone rogue. But let’s face it—when it comes to driving, Florida, we are the problem.

TBH, we’ve always been baddies, but now we’re like… road menace baddies. So next time you’re cruising down I-95 with someone tailgating you at 110 mph in a lifted truck flying a Gadsden flag—just remember: science (and stats) said this is totally on brand.

Drive safe, or just let someone else do it. ✌️
