No, Doja Cat Didn’t Actually Eat Lipstick at the VMAs

Doja Cat is gonna Doja Cat — aka commit to the bit and break the internet while doing it. But let’s set the record straight: she did not actually eat lipstick at the 2025 MTV VMAs.

On the red carpet, the “Paint the Town Red” queen casually bit into a MAC lipstick bullet and chewed it like a snack. The crowd gagged, the TL spiraled, and suddenly everyone was asking: “Did Doja just eat lipstick??”

The answer? Nope. Turns out it was all part of a genius stunt with MAC Cosmetics and viral chocolatier Amaury Guichon (aka the TikTok “chocolate guy”). Together, they created a fully edible, hyper-realistic chocolate version of MAC’s iconic Lady Danger lipstick shade.

The edible prop was filled with gooey caramel, carved with the MAC logo, and honestly looked too real. Guichon made at least two dozen of them, which Doja chomped into multiple times during the night.

And tbh, once you realize it’s chocolate, the vibes go from “ew, girl what?” to “ok wait, I need one in my holiday stocking.”

Doja, who’s the brand’s newest global ambassador, pulled the whole thing off flawlessly. Plus, MAC dropped her full glam breakdown so you can copy the look — lipstick chewing optional.
