Victoria Beckham is getting real about the darker side of fame and how intense body shaming impacted her mental health when she was younger.

In her new Netflix documentary Victoria Beckham, the former Spice Girl, now 51, reflects on the “incredibly unhealthy way” she dealt with years of body scrutiny and disordered eating. She revealed that after giving birth to her first son, Brooklyn Beckham, in 1999, she was actually weighed on national TV just six months postpartum. Yeah… seriously.

“We laugh about it now, but I was really young and that hurts,” she shared. “I started to doubt myself and not like myself because I let it affect me. You lose all sense of reality. I’ve been everything from Porky Posh to Skinny Posh.”

Victoria said she felt so powerless over how tabloids and paparazzi portrayed her that she tried to control the one thing she could, her body. That obsession became an eating disorder that she hid from even her closest family.

“I was very good at lying,” she admitted. “It really affects you when you’re told constantly that you’re not good enough.”

Now, as a successful designer, wife, and mom, Beckham’s openness is a reminder of how brutal public pressure can be, especially for women in the spotlight. And how healing starts with honesty. 💬✨

If you or someone you know is struggling with disordered eating, you can reach out for help through the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) at nationaleatingdisorders.org. You’re not alone. 💖
